Artist Monika Žaltauskaitė Grašienė Žaltė graduated from Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, Kaunas Faculty, Department of Textiles. She obtained the degree of licentiate of art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and was the first in Lithuania to master the technology of computerized jacquard weaving while still studying for a doctorate in art at VDA. The artist creates meaningful visual stories, touches on sensitive topics of the present, so this artist could be called a philosophizing master of computer jacquard technology. Studied at Esmod School in Paris (France), Bergen Art Academy (Norway). Participated in many creative workshops, symposiums, conferences in Florence (Italy), Izmir (Turkey), Tehran (Iran), Bergen (Norway), London (Great Britain), Tallinn (Estonia), Cork (Ireland), etc. Since 2009, she has been an associate professor at Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, Kaunas Faculty, Department of Textiles. Conducts educational cooperation projects. Since 2011 Monika has been a member and creator of the board of the Kaunas Biennial. She actively organizes personal exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, participates in community art projects, installs art projects in public spaces. Her works have been presented in various galleries and museums around the world: Poland, Estonia, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Great Britain, USA, etc… The works have been purchased by private collectors in Lithuania and abroad, in 2022 the National Art Museum purchased the cycle of works “Smiling”. The artist has received several local and international awards.
