BALLET PROJECT “CREATIVE IMPULSE VIII” AT ARTVILNIUS’19

May 21, 2019
The 8th Creative Impulse is introducing some novelties and challenges to its participants – this year it offers the revelation of a new space, expansion of boundaries and new roles. For years performed on the stage of the LNOBT, this time the project is making its debut at the Art Vilnius fair.
During the concert, the choreographic miniatures shall be presented by ballet dancers/choreographers Vaida Šniurevičiūtė, Julija Stankevičiūtė, Jade Longley, Isaac Evans, Marta Navarro, Gohar Mkrtchyan, Aušra Krasauskaitė, Milda Luckutė, Dorotėja Navickaitė.
The courage that drives artists to seek new forms of expression and dance is an interesting process, and it is always rewarded with the attention of the audience. The ephemeral nature of dance often creates the sensation of “walking towards nothingness”, thus it is truly wonderful that the concert shall be performed several times.
In 2012 the artistic director of LNOBT’s Ballet Company Mr. Krzysztof Pastor initiated a unique choreographic workshop, which was supposed to turn into an inseparable element of a company that strived to create its own individual creative image. “Without new paths, original means of expression, even new dance language, ballet would turn into a truly unremarkable form of art that doesn’t offer any surprises or challenges to the audience,” – claimed Mr. Pastor. During Creative Impulse ballet dancers get to “try on” the role of a choreographer and to reveal their talents in this field. The main criterion of the project is professionalism, and then – freedom and flight of imagination. Creative Impulse is a highly successful project that steered the ballet company of the LNOBT towards great achievements and progress, freed the creativity of the entire company.
This year Creative Impulse shall be presented for the eighth time. During all those years the project raised its own choreographers who went on to become successful creators. One of such fortunate ones is Martynas Rimeikis, who introduced his debut miniature Waiting for Godot during the first Creative Impulse; today his works are already present in the regular repertoire of LNOBT’s ballet company.
