EXHIBITION THE PATH | TAKAS
Materials: Author’s technique
“Bodies” is a series of concrete castings, which reflects the question raised in “The Shells”: why the sphere is the dominant figure in the theory and practice of sound and music from the time of metaphysics to the present day (from Plato’s “music of the spheres” to the Helmholtz resonator and to the ambisonic sound reproduction system ). This rhetorical question prompted the search for diffeomorphs of the sphere – objects that would maintain the topological integrity of the sphere, but lose the identity of the sphere volumetrically. The works are made by replacing the compressed air with concrete in a gym ball.
