Underground networks of hydrocarbon pipelines are a reflection of human relations. The cracking Druzhba or Nord Stream pipes represent the final dissolution of the ‘friendship of nations’, even as it was based on pure calculation from the very beginning. Humanity’s energy circulation is increasingly polarised; high tension takes over and becomes deadly. Delusions of Eurasian or even global unity come to resemble a vision of pushing the continents back together and restoring Pangaea or at least Laurasia for a start. Pipelines assembled from rusted oil barrels are overgrown with flowers. In this way, the naturally proliferating green energy covers up the residues of sentient beings’ toxic relationships.
